Journalists awarded for human rights coverage

The Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) appreciated three journalists for their good performance in the field of human rights for the Afghan year 1388 (2009/10).

The  AIHRC awarded Muhammad Rezayi, a BBC journalist from Ghazni, Abdul Ahad Rodwal from Paktia and Masood Rajayi from Herat as outstanding journalists who worked during their journalistic career for promotion of human rights.

Rezayi was applauded for covering issues related to women and children from remote areas of the country.

Rodwal from the locally based radio of Voice of Paktia was awarded because of airing a 20-episode series of a program on human rights.

Masood Rajayi from the Literary Association of Herat was given the award of appreciation for publishing dozens of articles on human rights.

This is the first time that the Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission is awarding journalists for their work in human rights.
