Kabul--Afghanistan Journalists Center(AFJC) invites applications from interested professional, or freelance Afghan journalists for 2020 “Afghanistan Journalist of the Year” Award.
Reporters, Photojournalists, columnists, editors and producers – staff and freelancers -- who believe they have had outstanding achievement in 2019 can candidate themselves for this award. These achievements can be:
-Investigative report that has caused a change and made authorities take action in resolving an issue.
-Creative media activity that has improved the media and reporting situation in the country.
-Illustrative and descriptive reports about any situation that normally fall behind from mainstream media coverage.
-Specific reports and media activities related to human rights, particularly the rights of women and children.
-Creative news report about Afghanistan that has attracted international media coverage.
Terms and Conditions:
-The reporter, photojournalist and editor should have at least one-year experience in the Afghan or international media organizations.
-News report, article and photographs nominated for this competition should be about Afghanistan.
-News report, article and photographs nominated for this competition should have been published in the solar year 1398/2019.
-This competition is limited to Afghan citizens only.
Any media organization, news agency and or news production company can nominate their reporters, photojournalists, or editors for this competition.
Freelance reporters and photojournalists as well as staff reporters and photojournalists of any national or international media organization can also submit their applications individually.
Radio and Television reporters should submit the script of their reports in MS. Word of PDF format along with the DVD or link to online version of their reports.
One person can nominate only ONE report, article, photo or video to this competition.

Afghanistan's Journalist of the Year 2020 will be awarded the above prize in a special ceremony in Kabul in presence of senior government officials and representatives of international community and Afghan media organizations at National journalist Day event on 17 March 2020.
