SAFMA facilitates short scholarships for 15 journalists in Pakistan

The Kabul branch the South Asia Free Media Association (SAFMA) said it has provided scholarships for 15 Afghan journalists who seek a degree in journalism.

Zia Bumya, the head of SAFMA's Afghanistan branch, said the journalists will get training in the South Asia Media School in Pakistan’s Lahore city.

The one-month training program will provide enhance skills and abilities of Afghan journalists working in print, radio and TV media fields, said Bumya.

The journalists were shortlisted from among 36 candidates from various provinces of Afghanistan.

SAFMA launched its Afghanistan branch in 2007 and has been one of the most active defense bodies of journalists in the South Asia region for more than a decade.
