New private radio goes on air in Charikar

CHARIKAR, July 17, 2010

Dunya Radio, a new privately run station, has gone on air with experimental transmission in Charikar, the provincial capital of Parwan province.

A statement from station's owners said it was set up by a group of intellectuals and mediapeople with an aim to spread public awareness in the northern province.

Dunya Radio set to 88.8 frequency covers areas spanning 50 square kilometers from Charikar city.

Hafizullah Azizi Parwani, head of the provincial information and culture department, appreciated launching of the first private radio in his province and considered it effective in promoting public awareness.
