AFJC condemns knife attack on a TV journalist in Herat

Herat: Afghanistan Journalists Center condemns violent knife attack on Saqi TV presenter in Herat city on Wednesday afternoon and calls on the local official to seriously pursue the case.

Tariq Nabi, head of Saqi TV told the Afghanistan Journalists Center that Edris was attacked by a man wielding a knife who stabbed him 10times outside the station.

Edris is said to be in good condition at city's main hospital but the Police is after the attacker who fled the scene shortly after d incident, he added.

Edris Amini hosts a challenging program on the Afghan elections since April 2014. The provincial Police is yet to ascertain the motive behind the attack.

Another case of violence happened at the same day in southern Ghazni province and local TV journalist, Rahmat MarjanKhil has beaten by Governor's bodyguards.

The governor Musa Khan Akbarzada regretted the beating of the journalist by his bodyguards and promised to award the perpetrators deterrent punishment.
