A conference with scholarly and investigative articles on online journalism was held in the University of Herat on Monday.
The conference titled 'Online Journalism a surprising development in communications' focused on various dimensions of online journalism as a new phenomenon.
Organized by the Journalism Faculty of Herat University, the conference was attended by numerous professors and students of journalism as well as national and foreign journalists.
The conference also showcased works of several students of the Journalism Faculty each of them managing a blog under supervision of Professor Faisal Karimi. The students of the third year of journalism share their thoughts, posts and journalistic studies online in the blogsphere.
Ghulam Usman Bariz, dean of the university, said in his opening speech to the conference that the students' interest in blogging was increasing in Afghanistan and that a good start from the Herat university was to be appreciated.
Mr Karimi said advantage of online journalism was that it targeted a global audience who could directly interact with the journalist.
At the end of conference, six journalism students were given appreciation letters for their leading position in online journalism in Herat.
